How Did You Start Using Your Talents?
On his job hunt right after college, a missing “t” in his résumé cover letter sparked his creative imagination. He sent a printer’s “t” in a jewelry box, with a new cover letter, to everyone who had received the letter with the typo. His first advertising job came within weeks.
The Most Impactful Turning Point?
A well-travelled speaker on social, mobile and general marketing, he often would come off the stage and be approached by audience members asking if he did any of these kinds of marketing. His answer at the time was, “I just talk about doing this stuff; I don’t actually do it.” The light bulb soon went off that there was an opportunity here, and he opened 60 Second Communications. His firm now helps brands develop ways to better connect with customers with the end-goal to increase sales.
The Most Powerful Lessons Learned?
For every success, an entrepreneur experiences numerous failures. A born optimist, Jamie learned not to stay down but to get up and try again. “People see and remember your successes, not your failures. When I succeed I just leverage the hell out of it and make sure everyone knows about it.”
