How Did You Start Using Your Talents?

Joking that “both my parents are tone deaf,” she credits them with always encouraging her love of music. Both grandmothers would come over for dinner on Wednesdays, sing and make music together. At eight she chose piano lessons over ballet (she hated tights) and her family nurtured her creativity.

The Most Impactful Turning Point?

“When I was eight I had my first panic attack. It was awful. Music kind of became my strength throughout my childhood. Every time I got scared to do something I would just listen to my favorite song,” she recalls, and she would believe, “I can totally do this.”

The Most Powerful Lessons Learned?

“Stay focused on what your goal is. I always say I don’t like to have a back-up plan because I don’t want to back up… I would say 90 percent of my opportunities and successes came from the honest, true and real relationships that I’ve built. They’re what life is all about.”
